Synapsis Walkthrough Tips and Cheats

Synapsis is a new escape the room game from Robot Jam Games. You start with a cube on a desk and must work through a series of clues in several rooms to complete the adventure and escape the game. One really cool thing about the game is it’s absolutely free. There’s no timer, but you’ll find yourself wanting to figure out how to get to the end as quickly as possible, just to see where the clues take you. If you get stuck along the way, below is a room-by-room account of how to locate all the clues and win the game.

Motion (Robot Treadmill Room)

1) Pickup Gasoline and add to generator
2) Add wheel to front space on treadmill
3) Pickup wrench to open door on generator
4) Pickup spark plug and add to generator
5) Turn on generator
6) As the treadmill rolls a ring spits out from under the treadmill.
7) Pick up the ring
Hold the ring up to light in ceiling until it turns orange

2) Click on a bird in the paintings

Contained (Security camera room)

1) Move the clock hands to 9:15
2) Pick up the razor blade that drops
3) Use the razor blade to cut a hole in the tile where there’s blood on the wall below and to the left of the clock.
4) Take the screw driver from the hole
5) Use the screw driver on the radio
6) Take the cross from inside the radio
7) Pick up the paper from the floor

Synapsis is a new and exquisitely detailed, 3D modeled and animated, point-and-click adventure game that was just dropped into our suggestion box by one of its authors, Rob James. Explore the mind of David Carter who is “possibly dead, possibly mad, or maybe just in an alternate reality” by visiting a series of rooms and solving puzzles within each. Synapsis manages to fold a good dose of abstract dementia into a great-looking game without pulling the experience apart at the seams.

You begin staring at a desk littered with items, including a mysterious (and rather out of place) box. In just a few clicks you find yourself in a dark corridor symbolizing your subconscious mind. Five doors surround you, each leading to a different room packed with puzzles. As you piece together clues from these rooms you open new areas to explore and gather even more items to use. For the most part, items you find will be used in the same room to solve multi-stage puzzles. This isn’t always the case, of course, so don’t be afraid to carry things back and forth and try out new ideas.

Analysis: Picking apart Synapsis’ mechanics reveals a fairly standard point-and-click room escape-type game. The puzzles are simple and, for the most part, make logical sense, which is a strange companion to the abstract storyline and setting. Items you’ll need and hotspots to click are often quite small, however, which forces pixel hunting from time to time.

By far the most powerful part of the Synapsis experience is the setting. Fans of the sci-fi series The Prisoner will appreciate more than a few subtle nods to the classic show. The ambience, music and visuals come together to tell an intriguing mystery in this game, one that isn’t likely to get solved no matter how much you point and click. Great value tickets at Brisbane International 2010

Brisbane International will again offer the incredible value $9.90 ground pass in 2010 with organisers also announcing plans to bolster the on-site non-tennis entertainment.

“We have some broad plans for 2010. Our tournament review has shown we have some great potential for growth in this area and we have some terrific ideas on how to capitalise on it,” Brisbane International Tournament Director Steve Ayles said.

The ground pass is one of many tickets for various sessions that will remain at 2009 prices.

“We have thoroughly researched patronage of this year’s event and then applied the results to our ticketing model for 2010,” Ayles said.

“As well as give Queensland its own world-class tennis tournament we also want to generate revenue to put back into the sport to produce the future generation of tennis champions.”

All sessions with the exception of the first day of play and the final weekend will remain at 2009 prices.

“We have gone through a rigorous ticketing review and believe we have come up with a pricing structure that has great value but also recognises the enormous demand,” Ayles said.

“The extra we generate in these sessions helps us keep prices down at other sessions and will channel back into the sport of tennis in Australia.

“Our main aim is to come up with a mix that ensures the public can experience world-class tennis at a price that is value for money.

“We believe there is sufficient choice on offer to meet a very strong public demand and we are already excited by some of our plans for next year’s event.”

Brisbane International 2010 series packages will go on sale from 7 to 11 October with single sessions on sale on 14 October.

The qualifying event on Friday 1–2 January will remain free in 2010.

NY unemployment rate

Today, June 19, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released the May 2009 preliminary unemployment rates by states and regions.

New York State’s unemployment rate rose from 7.7% in April to 8.2%, (seasonally adjusted) in May. To give some reference, the January NY unemployment rate was 7.0% and the May 2008 rate was 5.2%. Between November of 2006 and March of 2007, the NY unemployment rate bottomed at 4.3%. Every time the unemployment rate nears 4% it would bottom and head higher.

In January 1976, the NY unemployment rate was reported at 10.3% By April 1988; the rate bottomed at 4% and then rose to 8.9% by September 1992. February 2001, the rate bottomed at 4.2% and then rose to 6.5% in September 2003. Once again the rate bottomed at 4.3% in March 2007. Could each of these bottoms followed by a major increase in unemployment over the following years tell us that 4% is too low for the NY natural unemployment rate? If so, then it would imply when we reach the low 4% area, the economy may have overheated and is in need for a correction?
In the previous article Redefining the unemployment rate, the various definitions of unemployment were discussed in depth. Definition U-3 is the official unemployment rate and U-6 is the widest definition of unemployment. Data from the second quarter of 2008 through the first quarter of 2009 shows the underemployment rate (U-6) at 10.9%.
This begs the question of New York City’s unemployment rate. May 2009 was reported as 8.2% versus 7.7% for April and 7.8% for March and 5.1% for May 2008.
In ranking the 50 largest U.S. cities for the average annual unemployment rate from lowest unemployment to highest, New York city was ranked as follows for each of the listed years:
2008: NYC tied for 17th place with Charlotte, Columbus, Dallas and Denver, all with a 5.5%.
2007: NYC tied for 29th place with Las Vegas and Portland, Or all with a 4.9% rate.
2006: NYC tied for 26th place with Forth Worth and San Jose, CA all with a 5.0% rate.
2005: NYC tied for 27th place with Denver, both with a 5.8% rate.
2004: NYC ranked 28th with a 7.1% rate.
2003: NYC ranked 41st with a 8.3% rate.
2002: NYC ranked 40th with a 8.0% rate.
2001: NYC tied with Philadelphia, both with a 6.1% rate.
2000: NYC ranked 42nd with a 5.8% rate

An expedition on the Nangaritza River of Ecuador, near the border with Peru, has uncovered nearly a dozen species new to science, including four amphibians, a lovely lizard, insects, and plants.

This one above is a species of glass frog, Hyalinobatrachium pellucidum, named after its translucent skin.

These discoveries are hoped to encourage the government to protect the area, which is close to a “peace park” created in the late 90s after decades of conflict. More photos and videos are available from Conservation International.

Glass frogs are difficult to find and collect, due not only to their small size and color, but also because of the extreme areas they sometimes inhabit.
